Obvs mock up. Real phone released, MASSIVE bezels. Plus a notch... side notch, but still a notch. :(

Oh well, as a V1 tech, it's interesting and cool, but also very rough around the edges. Wait for v2 or 3.

Samsung what do you mean FROM $1980

Jesus I thought Apple was bad with their pricing but this is something else. . .

You can get a Dell G7 and a Samsung S10 for under $1800 so you'll have $180 left for whatever you want oh like a Samsung Tab E 9.6 for that exact amount.

Do people actually want foldable phones though? Seems like this is another thing people find cool but don't actually want, like flying cars or 3D television. Out of everything i want from a phone, being able to fold it wasn't on the list.

I'm not going to lie... Yes I think I do. I love reading (both for business and pleasure) on my phone, and always want more screen real-estate once I have the device out. But I don't want it any wider in my pocket. There is a lot more available volume in my pocket though, so thickness isn't as big of a deal.

Like I don't want my phone to fold... I want to be able to have a large screen when I want, and a smaller device when I don't, which basically means 'folding device'.

But at this price... nah.

I know right, I mean I buy Apple Products quite a lot so I'd say that I am prepared to pay more for the best tech (In my opinion) the iPhone XS Max has a stupidly high price and would be the maximum I'd spend on a phone, Even on contract.

Agreed. I feel the people that really want it will get it for the novelty of it being the first of it's kind (first as in actually can fold and be used as a primary phone). With it being first they can charge whatever they want and people will still buy it.

I still feel like we are a ways off from foldable phones being something I would be interested in.

No one really needs a smartphone. These things aren't necessities, they're luxuries, and priced accordingly.

The reality is that these are luxury items. Just like every other smartphone. To see these types of devices as necessary to live is simply put, either delusion or ignorance.

So you’re willingly choosing to ignore the fact that many employers communicate over text and phone calls? That a continuous internet connection can help you get direction/call a ride. And that a lot of people don’t even have a laptop or internet connection outside of their cell phones? And you’re also ignoring the fact that phones allow people to contact emergency services?

I’m sorry, but your opinion is simply incorrect.

They don’t even sell paper maps anymore, and people are incredibly unreliable when it comes to directions, especially with our reliance on GPS.

Again, how are you going to do that without a phone? Public telephones aren’t really a thing anymore.

It’s a luxury for some things, but incredibly important for many people’s livelyhoods. The government even believes that citizens need access to the internet, why don’t you?

Yes, paper maps are still sold. Maybe not commonly in the shithole you live in, but there's still told rather commonly for the vast majority of us.

Doesn't need to be. The fact is, smartphones are not a requirement in life.  You can get a job without a phone or internet connection. You can communicate with others. You can shop for food and clothes. You have access to transportation.

Getting a cushy office job, skyping, online shopping, uber, are all luxurious upgrades that fill the need that more basic or less desirable alternatives also fill.
