seems no music related thread here so ill start one.

 

post your favourite cover songs in reply, with youtube link if possible.

 

general rule:

1. cover only.
   if a cover piece is so famous that people consider it's original is not a cover.
   ie. frank sinatra's fly me to the moon is not a "cover", but the one in bayonetta is.
2. keep it under 10 songs per reply.
3. don't post multiple covers for a same song in one reply. post them in new replies.
4. descriptions, if possible.

Well I'm kind of old so I am old enough to remember the original song from Chris Isaak, I believe it was featured on a Beverly Hills 90210 episode in the early 90s

I also liked some covers from Mike Tompkins, Peter Hollens, Superfruit and Kurt Hugo Schneider. I think Max and that chick sang it better than Maroon 5.

i dislike this version. the emotion curve is wrong, the feeling is wrong, instead of sorrow it feels furious. for a metal guy he is good, but no where near simon and garfunkel. even for his rendition, the sad clown is way better than him. ( i forgot his name)

 

its hugely biased tho, the sound of silence is the first english song i learned (yes english isnt my native toungue) and for me i yet to see anyone can make it close to s&g's level let alone surpass them.
