How much did you spend on PCs so far?

DiamondCubeMiner

I record the prices of items I buy in PCPartPicker and for the last 3 years, and I have spent US$995.48 (probably more) on PC parts, spread across 3 different PCs.

~€5000 in the last 3-4 years

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

According to the price I calculated last time, over $6000. (Yes, I keep a list for this... Just to remind me how much money I'm wasting)

Spoiler

This list doesn't include everything. There's a few things like RAM and motherboards that I bought locally. It might not have tax and shipping costs and many other things like my current 900x400 desk mat, etc.

$20k at least

also, this topic already exists, use the search and you'll find the old topic.

did it for you:

Also, whats the point of a topic like this? Do YOU want to brag about the amount? Do you want to see others brag about the amount? As you can see from the old topic, people don't really care what someone else spends....

$900 for my prebuilt, $600 for my laptop, but nearly $1000 for my goddamn phones. One I broke, one I lost, and the last one is $550 OnePlus 6. Yikes!

But I find comfort in the fact I avoided $100 for Windows license or computer malwares from installing pirated Windows

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.

This is literally at the bottom of the thread you linked...

But on topic... I'm afraid it'll scare me because only from the top of my head I spent probably over €4k on my pc + laptop since 2015 I'm afraid... Just seeing the number and realizing I'm still a student it scares me ?

Looking at the prices above, I don't feel bad anymore on how much I've spent. I have an Excel sheet logging my expenditure so I know exactly how much, but I'll still estimate: a little over $3,000 for computer related parts, and $1,300 on keyboards and keyboard related accessories.

Just totalled it up, a lot less than I thought, which is great!

PC Part picker shows I pull 346W with my RX580 but only 301W if I change up to a GTX 1070TI which is sweet!

Looks like I don't need to change PSU as I have 550W now and it should be plenty in years to come!

With what I have spent in the last decade... I could have probably purchased a nice car.

Then again I upgrade machines constantly, buy things I see at good deals, have a few servers I have purchased... 10gb network equipment, etc..

Now for a final price I have no clue what I've spent and I plan to keep it that way incase the wife ever trys to corner me on it lol.

On desktops, and just for the desktop hardware, likely around $8,000-$10,000 over the course of 14 years. Peripherals would probably add another $2,000. Laptops would add another $10,000.

I also sell what I don't use anymore so the total cost isn't that bad. Probably.

If I were to calculate the amount of money I've spent on computer parts, software for said systems (programs, OS) I'd have to say....

...more than they have been worth a few years later.

Having learned that lesson some (many) years ago, I spend as little humanly possible on my systems. And run them til they die. My current system (twin Xeons) is the 1st new system I've bought in decades.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

in the last year only about $500, upgrading to my current psu and microphone setup.

In total over the years that I've owned this pc, far, far too much for me to even remember. But my current build, if I calc'd all the parts as new is about $3,100
