Can Someone Review my PC parts before I buy them.

Syndama

So in about a day, I will be getting a new array of pc to put together (its budget).

I was just wondering if any of you pros could review the parts list and see if their are any errors or components that I should use instead.

The parts include:

An MSI B450M motherboard

A Ryzen 3 2200g with a Wraith Cooler

An Nvidia 1050 ti graphics card

2 x 8 gb of ddr4 2400Mghz Ram

650W Thermaltake lite power gen 2 PSU

250g ssd

1TB hard drive

And stock fans from my pc Case

I'm aiming for good gaming performance while being able to work on projects for school and maybe some video editing.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Get a better CPU if you're not planning on using the inbuilt Vega graphics of the 2200G. At least Ryzen 5 2600 if you're video editing.
Get a RX 580 or RX 570 instead of the 1050 Ti
Get faster memory, works better with Ryzen processors. 2x8GB DDR4 3000Mhz is fairly cheap these days and prices are dropping. Can get a kit for as low as $90 now.
Get a better power quality supply. 450W would be fine, but better quality. No point getting a crappy 650W when the system only uses 200W.

What's your budget for the parts you have listed above? What country? I'll try and come up with a better system for similar price.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Swap 1050ti for a rx 570 (the 1050ti is terrible buy right now). The rx 570 is faster and cheaper

Get 3000mhz memmory. It only costs slightly more and very much worth it

Bad PSU, swap it for tye cx550 (2017) from corsair.

I wouldn't suggest to buy a 1050ti at all, for around the same price you can get an RX 570/580 and some free games if you buy from a retailer taking part in the AMD promo.

Ryzen also likes fast ram, try to find some which is good for at least 2800mhz.

Since you mentioned video editing, I'd definitely spend the extra $50 or so and get a Ryzen 5 2600 instead. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy an APU and promptly stick a video card into it, if you needed to use it for a few months without a graphics card or something it would be great.

Agreed with what everyone said.

Also if you're using separate graphics, may be worth investigating if you can get a better cpu.

Ryzen 2600 would be the best performance for money, but if you don't want to spend ~166$ on cpu, there's also Ryzen 5 1500x at 145$ or (not really worth it) Ryzen 5 1400 at ~ 140$. I say not worth it because it's only 5$ difference and the 1500x comes with the better Spire cooler, that would also allow you some overclocking.  The Stealth cooler on the 1400 would not allow you to overclock much.

These are  4 cores/8 threads, they have hyperthreading enabled, and they should give you around 10-15% more performance than 2200g.

2600 would be best though with 6 cores and 12 threads.

If your budget is really tight, you could save around 40-50$ by just buying a single 8 GB of memory stick and suffer for a few weeks or a couple of months until you gather more cash to buy a second stick.

  • 4 weeks later...

I very much appreciate you guy letting me know what upgrades to get to my current list and you'll probably sleep easy knowing I've gone for a complete overhaul and I got myself Ryzen 2600, faster ram, and RX570 and only for a (relatively) small increase in price. You guy were right about the 1050ti. Thank you so much, I've still got a lot to learn when it comes to this stuff. I've build and used my new PC for a few weeks now and the quality of games and Adobe After Effects have improved drastically since my last setup and I really owe it you guys.

Thanks once again for the tips.
