What hypervisor is this system running?

Unraid, It's actually not designed for stuff like this, but hey it works!

It's for like consumer/small businesses that want a bunch of storage and maybe a few VM's or docker containers.

Cheap too imo. (not free, but worth the money)

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Strange choice, but I've been doing similar stuff with Freenas, so I get the idea.
Thx

How hard did he drop the processor that he damaged a memory channel?

I mean, if they had pins on the processor, I understand. But they are pretty much monolithic.

Are you sure there isn't just grease or other debris on the pads? Or motherboard had bad pins?

Did they ever explain why they didn't just use a system like the one they featured in Holy Balls ep 5. Presumably that would be better suited for this.

They should post the full parts list (PC Part Picker maybe? - then some random other person could try this... or not) even though it isn't done yet.

Just curious, what is that "cheap" standing desk? Asking for a friend.

Somebody please make him a dual or quad socket Threadripper 2 motherboard!

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

Or maybe something like in episode 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8leyqlRo1O8.

It would have to have more PCI-e slots though.

This. Now all he needs to do is find a way to plug in all his GPUs, those "PCI-E 3.0 x40 Ultra Risers" look promising.

@LinusTech, please, for the love of Dawkins, put that steel lathe/cutter to good use & capitalise on @AlexTheGreatish's wizardry to create a proper case for this frankensteinian monster. You could make it the centre-piece in your LAN centre for which the displays and peripherals could surround it.

Tyan make some pretty amazing server and workstation gear. My most recent build was with their Thunder HX workstation - it's the only tower form-factor system out that can accommodate FIVE DEDICATED GPU's (one for display, four for work). Paired with an external res and radiator setup it's the ultimate high-end system short of a full rack-mount setup.

As for getting that 11 slot board into a case, just get a 4U server chassis and shove it all into spare rack space. It'll look a lot more elegant than trying to cram it inside a CaseLabs chassis and also occupy just a minimal footprint.
