Help! ASUS E402S wont install linux mint

i have tried for 2 days now to install Linux mint on my ASUS E402S from a USB using multiple programs to wright the install USB (win32diskimager, etcher, linuxlive USB creator, rufus). some installs are detected by the bios while some are not, also of the ones that are detected some when booted to will lock up the system on a black screen and others will say "isolinux.bin missing or corrupt". i have installed Linux plenty of times on multiple desktops and my lenovo y510p but this bios has me stumped.

any help will be greatly appreciated

@volwrath

Etcher is my goto program; I would recommend a newer distro, non-LTS kubuntu, opensuse or mageia.

A lot of people like manjaro, but I don't recommend it.

You can choose to still use the cinnamon DE with mageia; geckolinux is your cinnamon on opensuse

@volwrath I am running Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1 currently. I installed it on 3 different laptops by now and there was no problem during the installation.
Try with another USB and download latest version.
