Doesn't seem like they're directly ripping off of the video (making clips and posting it in their own). The concept isn't really owned by anyone (or at least, it shouldn't) since it's just playing with sound.

To put it simply: lolno. 

Huawei is based in China, a country known for having minimal copyright laws.

If the trial was held in China, the creator probably wouldn't get a fair trial and if the trial was held outside of China then I doubt much action would be taken against Huawei.

Not if Huawei licensed the piece.

 

It's interesting that after 9 replies no one has thought that maybe they did it legit.   You know companies do that all the time.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Is it technically illegal to copy something shot for shot? They use different props, actors, music, cameras, and so on. So it's all their own stuff unless it would be considered stealing an idea? But can you patent a shot list?

What you see there is a substantial copy of Nigel's original artwork. His copyright was infringed. For a western world, it is serious. For Chima, especially when it comes to foreigners... and taking into account Huawei's power in the area - no chances. It would be even enormously difficult to find a lawyer that has no interest conflict with Huawei. The maximum compensation for copyright infringement in Chana is 7000 dollars if you win the case while it would cost 200 000 - 300 000 dollars to develop a case.. I am in the same position. My copyright was infringed by a JAPANESE company that designed an enormously large ceiling for Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen.  Theu offered compensation that does not reflect the scale of the project and changed the design.
