It usually depends on the game. ACOd is mainly GPU bound and lesser CPU bound. I guess a better CPU will help maybe a couple of fps.

I believe CSGO (if that’s the CS you mean) is a CPU intensive game, so a better cpu would be best

Only in  CSGO you will really see a huge difference if you were to upgrade the CPU, The GPU wouldn't really do anything in that game.
But the GPU would impact most games, the newer ones anyway.

Odyssey is definitely a CPU demanding title.

Sure, CS:GO is CPU demanding title too, but we are talking about game engine from ~2006, running at over 200 FPS.

I'm not saying it's not. But the GPU is more important compared to the GPU.

Another game I can think of is Planet Coaster. Not sure about others, I don't play that many different games.

A better CPU would improve your performance in Battlefield V multiplayer by a lot.

This is incorrect, AC Odyssey and Origins both are very taxing on the CPU, in fact when I play AC Origins I am limited by my i7 8700 before the GTX 1080 Ti is an issue..

OP, whether or not you'll have more fps with a better CPU depends if you're limited by it rather than your GPU, primarily speaking.

Really? I'll check later tonight. Never noticed it before. Running 7700k and 2080.

Try walking around Alexandria in Origins, there are some places in there I'm certain you'll see your 4 cores maxing out.

Then again it used to be worse before all the patches.

Someone responded

"Sorry but this is to be expected, any system can bottleneck in the right circumstances. Your cpu is a lower end i5 from 2 generations ago and by current standards is about low end i3 level. The cpu heavy games you mention can all benefit from more than 4 cores/threads, it is just the way newer AAA games are going.

You could upgrade to a 6700 or 7700 (ensure latest BIOS)."
Hope this helps.

Odyssey is a game that requires both a strong CPU and GPU to play.

A slow/narrow CPU will manifest in low fps even with a powerful GPU.

Likewise, a 9900k with a 1060 won't do well.

It's one thing to say that the game needs a fast GPU, it's a different thing to say it doesn't reply on CPU as much as GPU.

It needs both.
