what coil? you mean heatpipe?

It's fine.

It's also called a heatpipe not a coil.

it's fine, it doesnt get hot enough to melt the wire's insulation or carry meaningful amount of voltage.

I was plugging in cables, and I was getting a plastic smell from the rear exhaust of the case, so was looking for fire hazzards.

That's not unusual for a new build. If the smell lingers for an extended time or you start getting a burning plastic smell, you have problems.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

The smell is probably coming from PSU. If it does same after few days, locate which part is causing it and look for replacement.
