To class 2016 parts as old... Wish I could do that...

Dude just do what I did pick one thing at a time you want to focus on save replace and so on. This all started out as a basic $1,100 i5 4690k/GTX 970 build just over 2 years ago

This is actually a pretty neat setup. Did you build those speakers yourself?

You better have the appropriate emulators installed on that.

Otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to confiscate your gun and badge.

Sadtimes my friends. I just killed my pretty rare Asrock X79 Extreme 4m board swapping in a new CPU. (It was a 10 core Xeon 2690V2, it was gonna be a beast!)

Can we all just have a moment of silence for a fallen rig?

If you look closely, you can see one of the chokes in the middle is broken in half.

can't find a replacement, also dont have my soldering equipment here.

it is true that i could probably fix this if i had a new choke on hand, but i somehow can't seem to find one, anywhere.

It's a inductor labeled LZ R18. that's all i know. if you could provide me with a link to the part i can see if it is worth getting the soldering equipment for.

@iamdarkyoshi @Darkman seriously, any help is appreciated. i can't find the specifics about this choke anywhere. nothing about impendence or all that stuff. if you both know how easy it is, a little help would go a long way here ;)

Added the new logitech G560 speakers to replace my sound stick II by HK. Amazing lighting effects in supported games like battlefield 1. Fire scenes where they cast orange all around is crazy nice. Screen sampling is decent. Sets a nice mood light with everything when editing jobs in photoshop. Sound quality is nice and crisp as I expected. But too much bass... and highs must be adjusted immediately. 20180413_061837.thumb.jpg.dc940ff45b9b015d096c6c58cadb80b9.jpg20180413_061846.thumb.jpg.a783e695eb974471a95c3ee9044a5ff8.jpg20180413_061855.thumb.jpg.9ad8cc6681a234c75bb41bfdb4174a3d.jpg

I've made some minor changes.  Rewired, updated fan orientation, and I upgraded from my EVGA Supernova G2 750 to a corsair RM1000i so I have some more headroom for future upgrades.  I still have a long way to go to catch up to the talented builders here but, I'm pleased with my progress.

Some more headroom? You utilize 300W to 400W tops with your current setup.

With my 7820x and 1080ti Under load im puling about 500 watts, that's 66% of my old PSU capacity.  If I add a 2nd 1080Ti  I'll be past 80% of a 750 watt PSU.  So yeah, new PSU.  Also, I wanted one.

Having previously had that Air 540 case, the real question build quality wise is how the wiring looks behind your giant "trap door" on the sidexD.  In all seriousness though, nice build.

Oh, and in full disclosure, when i had that case, my trap door was quite the rats nest. out of sight, out of mind lol.

@DanTheMuffinMan I've wanted to build a gaming table for a few years. interesting that you went with the book cubby's on each side. Do you find players really use them? I feel like I'd be continually fishing runaway dice from them.

I definitely would have done them differently if I did it again, but yes they do use them. I designed them with the size of the Players Handbook and note-books in mind, but they mostly use them to stow their pencils, character sheets and whatnot. Most of them just leave all their stuff in the cubby's between sessions.

Edit: forgot to mention their biggest down-side, they are absolute knee-cap destroyers. The first session anyone plays at that table they are guranteed to wack their knee on them. That lesson gets learned pretty fast though :)

It's a sizable investment, especially time if you intend to do it yourself, but I've seen alot of easier versions that accomplish the same basic things, like this https://imgur.com/gallery/hTbw4 and this

Yeah I considered doing a wood cover for mine and dual-purposing it as a dining table but ended up just doing a plexiglass cover for the TV to make it level when not playing DND. Guess I could always get a wood cover made in the future if I wished but those cubbies would be dining pits of danger.
