Well, the system has been tidied (somewhat), picked up a new desk, few other toys and an el-cheapo monitor arm from eBay to give me a more clean setup, it's a bit tall.. however that will hopefully get me some more options down the line.

Setup.thumb.jpg.af800eedc9aee4233a1b1f8e362c5581.jpg

The 3 systems I have in the photo are:

  • Moonlight - Overkill pee-pee extension
    • Specs below in original photos
      • Upgraded to 4TB WD Red mass storage drive
    • New system name is in order (originates from when I had the bright white LED setup, now seems out of place

moonlight.thumb.JPG.5457c5b8f420fdadaf1d507878963761.JPG

  • Showtime - Video capture/streaming rig
    • CPU - i7-2600
    • MB - Gigabyte H61M-D2-B3
    • RAM - 8GB G-Skill RipJaws 1600 DDR3
    • Cooler - Thermaltake ContacSilent 12
    • Storage - 250GB Samsung Evo 850 + Seagate BarraCuda 1TB (Mass Storage)
    • GPU - Gigabyte 750Ti
    • PSU - Thermaltake Litepower 450W
    • Capture - AverMedia Live Gamer HD
    • Case - Thermaltake Versa H15

showtime.thumb.JPG.831025792448886acc5c72640f5c1b4b.JPG

  • Vault - unRAID NAS & Docker Monster
    • CPU - i5-6500
    • MB - Gigabyte H270 Gaming 3
    • RAM - 16GB Kingston 2133 DDR4
    • Cooler - CoolerMaster V8 GTS
    • Storage - 4 x Seagate IronWolf 8TB HDD
    • PSU - Corsair CS550M
    • Case - Antec P100

vault.thumb.JPG.be408b789fe0772fd4549cb857a0e4ae.JPG

From here, the planned upgrades are:

  • Swap out RGB controller to something that can be controlled by my recently gifted Google Home Mini
  • Obtain new speaker solution (the cut down X530 system I'm running is starting to sound tired)
  • Obtain new headphones (bout time for an upgrade, I've had to resort to electrical tape for my current set to hold padding on)
  • Obtain longer cables to fix cable management (just been using whatever I could find in my stocks of crap to get things wired up)
  • New keyboard, such as K65 RGB (depending on mood and price at the time)
  • Setup cache drives for Vault
  • 10GBe networking on the horizon for both Vault and Moonlight (cause why the hell not) :D

Current setup (good old work in progress).

Cable management is trash, I know this... Good monitor arms that aren't $1000 are a bit hard to come across here, but I'm working on it. Picked up the screens last week (more for productivity than gaming).

Next purchase hopefully is an Ergotech 100-D28-B13 (1 over 3) monitor stand, however the import options are a bit limited here for them. Seems to be the best fit for the monitor height I require short of modifying another brand. From there, moving from a corner desk back to a straight desk to finalise things is the plan.

Specs below.

good thing I changed the CPU block too, the thing was cracking all around the threads for the fittings! that could have been very, very expensive :P

decided to switch cases and I got a new keyboard.  Feels good to have the number pad again.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.  Here's what I got so far.

Keep in mind I'm still grabbing multiplatform games on PC, unless they happen to be cheaper on PS4 or Switch (such as RDR2 as of right now)

Currently Playing:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Switch
  • Super Mario Maker 2 - Switch

Games Beaten:

  • God of War - PS4
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Switch

(will be reset at the beginning of each month)

Put on hold:

  • Splatoon 2 - Switch

How many games I'm needing:

  • DS: 82
  • Wii: 38
  • 360/PS3: 84
  • 3DS: 60
  • Wii U: 6
  • PS Vita: 34
  • PS4: 20
  • Switch: 16

I dont understand how people manage without the number pad, or at the very least the enter key within a thumbs reach from the mouse. I also conveniently have my screenshot and video capture keys mapped to / and * nest to num lock, out of the way of what most games use.

Oh. I did google it, but all it showed was monasteries.

Then I looked again at the picture in this thread thinking maybe there was a picture of a monastery somewhere in it.

There wasnt, so I was extra confused.

I am aware that this is the most stupidest setup evar but it's neat for content creation + some cheeky CSGO. When in need of power I plug in, when in need of mobility I unplug.

Yours Sincerely,

Well my new case has now been overdue for over a week so I went ahead and moved my HDDs into my temporary case thats meant for my G4400:

e4mdv7A.jpg

Words cant describe how difficult these were to install. Well, it was simple enough screwing them into the caddies and putting them in, but then the screw to secure the caddies and leads for the SSDs are all behind the HDDs, and there just a few cm clearance in which to insert the bracket screw and SSD cables. It turns out that my bendy ehlers danlos syndrome fingers are a god send for installing hardware / building PCs, all my knuckles conveniently squished together to push the cables and hold the screws in place.

Yeah, I have 4 drives in an ITX Case, wasn't really that bad to mount expect for the 960 Evo.

well, that's kind of an awkward situation to explain.

long story short, I was showing a friend how to build a pc and he would insert it into the socket. he dropped it on the floor tough, and the die cracked all the way through. :(
