So what do I do when I build my boss a new PC (btw, for those interested, I upgraded him from a Core i3 550 with 4GB of RAM, to a Ryzen 3 1200 with 16GB of RAM) and I get the motherboard, CPU, RAM.

I have more RAM laying around at home, a 800W PSU, a GTX 295, and a different LGA 1156 CPU?

Why I build another PC!
Yes, that is a cheap Chinese cooler!

That's the CPU I had laying around... an i7 870

Do what I do with old free PCs that still run; Stuff a half-decent cheap GPU in it and turn them into budget mining rigs. ;)

Lol, not with this one.  But I could probably do that with my old HP that has a Phenom X4 6950, or one of my Core 2 Duo rigs.

My first build and looks like crap. Sorry i didn't have $60000K budget like most people. :'(

But it does amazing in every game i played so far and soon i put an ssd in this build.

Your build is what it's all about.  My first build didn't look amazing..... though most of them didn't back them, but I made the most out of what I had.  It's the passion that counts.  Today I'm much older with a career and not a single financial burden so I can spend the money on it.  Even today with thousands of dollars into multiple machines and peripherals I can easily be unhappy with what I have.  If you like your machine then it is the best one in the world.  Take pride in it.

Here's my kind of messy but meh battlestation. The Razer products and mousepad are in crap condition so hopefully for Christmas I'll get new crap from Corsair or some brand. Also I might get a mic this Christmas, I dunno. I post a updated build once I get the stuff for Christmas.

What is that audio dodad with all the knoby bits?

Update on my F@H/BOINC rig.  Never went for looks on it, but try to keep it tidy to a certain degree.

Added in a GTX1070 Hybrid.

Top card is my 24/7 folding GTX960 FTW with an AIO smack on it

X399-A ASUS Prime mobo with a 1900X.

Sole purpose of this rig: crunch, crunch all day.

Later on plan to smack a block on the TR to cut the noise down some more.  Most noise parts in the whole thing are those noctua fans.

This is my "setup". I've devoted all my space and money into my stereo system. My gaming pc is tucked away behind my tv, but I don't game anymore. My music passion has blossomed into something really wonderful... I listen to music 6-10 hours a day and I can't get enough of it.

Installed the MSI AERO 960 4GB my mom got me for Christmas. Refurb unit, but so far it seems rock solid, though anything could be better than my old 7950 at this point. Also pretty damn impressed with temps on this guy, considering how much lighter it is than my 7950 (two of these = one of it). Passive idle temps are in the low/mid 20's and loads are somewhere in the 50s (can't really tell since Afterburner keeps overriding the default fan curve. And it's so damn quiet and it doesn't cause so much interference that it sounds like dying pigs in my headphones. :P

Also IDK why it looks like it's sagging a boatload in the pic, but it really isn't.

IMG_20171225_195802.jpg

Bonus pics of what it's replacing + 2 or so years of dust (vowed never to clean the old piece of ass unless I swapped the cooler onto a third card since the cooler is dank performance lmao).

Would be usefully if that computer did run games, but it don't.  It sits for 24/7 crunching F@H and BOINC work units.

Next project is getting the main computer switch into this case.

The TR cores do BOINC units while the GTX960 and GTX1070 does F@H units.

Here how the desktop look with everything going.
