Dude - please swap your GPU's - even if you sacrifice some lanes...That backup gpu is blocking like 60% of that top fan - that thing must be suffocating and be hella loud..

That's... uhh... very smart. That's likely why it heats up so fast. Thanks for pointing that out, can't believe I didn't think that through.

Moved for summer (450km away) and changed desk setup a bit. Its still WIP mode, but here's some pics of coming together:

1st edition. Brown box on left is for cable modem and router....

Spoiler

IMG_3583.jpg

Which I changed to more open design after I suspect modem overheated. White box behind monitor is for cable management and USB2 hub.

I've since added 2nd monitor and some office supplies. More photos added later when I'm finished.

Meanwhile, here's system from inside. I'll change top ODD soon since it seems to be dead. But I don't have bay covers here to cover empty slot.

Where did you get that desk man? I have been looking for one like that for a while.

It's the Ikea Galant desk. Sadly, Ikea doesn't manufacture this desk anymore. Look into their new Bekant line of desks. They are a pretty good alternative to the Galant.

Yeah unpainted. I put those together in the winter and just haven't brought them out to stain or paint. Not 100% sure what I want to do with them still.

Is that a GPU bridge for crossfire?    I thought crossfire went through the motherboard?    Or am I mistaken?

Crossfire was done on the mobo at the 290 and upwards I think, it was via a bridge before

The level of snugness in that wallpaper is off the charts I love it!

Any chance you could share the source of it with the class?

I wonder if it's the angle you took the picture at but the image looks a little better on your monitor.

Ah.  Is through the motherboard a better way to do that or just different from using a bridge?

As I recall it was faster than AMD's bridges and that was the biggest reason for doing it.

As I recall it was faster than AMD's bridges and that was the biggest reason for doing it.

Somewhere along the lifetime of the Radeon HD 6000 and 7000 series of GFX cards, Crossfire was possible through BOTH PCIe connectivity and through the bridges. Depending on card, some would only work via the bridge. Some only worked via PCIe. And then there were some that were in betweens that could do either.

Cards like the XFX HD7770 GHz had the fingers for the bridges, but could Xfire with fingerless cards like the XFX HD7750 2GB.

AMD switched from the bridge to PCIe lanes because at the time, there was little difference in throughput between the two, but bridges incurred additional cost and latency because they required an expanded chipset to handle extra communications. It also helped long term Xfire support as the bandwidth of PCIe would increase before the needs of Xfire over PCIe would.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!
