It was good! I expected it to be a pain, but I held the board above the case a bit, plugged everything thing, routed whatever I could underneath the board, then set it down and screwed it in. I omitted from panel audio, but I don't use it. I just pulled the cable around back to the other chamber to get it out of the way.

Just finished a new build with the i9-9900k. I replaced my 4770k that I have been using for 6 years. Went back and forth for a while on getting the 3900X or 3950X but I didn't want to deal with the stock shortages, inflated prices or even waiting till November for the 3950X.  The end machine turned out really nice for what I need.  I am a light gamer but mostly use this machine for work. I am a power user that leverages many VMs but I also leverage an additional server that runs for my work labs and Plex servers. (that build is a beast and mostly focused on storage and running different hyper-visors).  Sad thing is that the AMD would have been a better choice for my workloads but running 5.0GHz on all cores and some speedy NVM drives is really nice for a daily driver.

  • CPU: i9-9900k @ 5GHz all core
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming
  • RAM: G Skill F4-3000C16
  • GPU: ASUS Strix GTX 1080
  • Case: NZXT H510
  • Storage: 2 x Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB
  • PSU: Corsair RM850i
  • Display(s): 3 x Dell S2715H
  • Cooling: NZXT Kraken X52
  • Keyboard: Razer Ornata Chroma
  • Mouse: Razer Naga
  • Sound: Pioneer Elite Receiver to Mirage Nanosat Sat5pb-1 Satellite and a Mirage 12in Sub
  • Operating System: Windows 10

One thing with this system is that the GSkill memory does not work with the motherboard controls for RGB.  Honestly, it's pretty annoying and really wish there wasn't any RGB on the ram.

Also, some cable management is required behind the desk but you know... time.

With LED color, it can change the view :)

For example, my old motherboard ASUS P2B-F :

With LED green (for 3Dfx color), it gives the result :
