Figured I'd post the halfway decent pics I took of the ol' daily for builds.gg here as well since I've never really posted decent ones of it.

Is it okay to mount your ssd like that? we are having a discussion about this right now

Here is my baby, it might not look like much but it took me 2 years to scrape up enough money to afford this. I am enjoying it quite a bit, and not only myself but I am getting my oldest into PC games too.mybaby3.jpg.8b57c66d130098376c09349df64b8cfb.jpgmybaby2.jpg.dc08de320104df72fdf19cc0d0876add.jpgmybaby1.jpg.187018dacf0a7f3618d9623da46f5a55.jpgmybaby4.jpg.fc34764fd5f02e3d62e3ba4526fa80b5.jpg

As long as mine doesn't somehow get enough force behind it to mess up other shit (which would be impressive in itself), it's fine.

The parts:

- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Wraith Boxed

- MSI B450M Mortar

- Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB

- Team Group Vulcan 3000 MHz 16GB

- Corsair RM550x

- Corsair Crystal 280X RGB

- Crucial MX500 1TB SSD

- (saving up for, but already made up my mind about buying) WD Black 4 TB HDD

- Corsair LL 120 RGB (2x, for a total of 4 fans)

- Diamond Weapon (FF7) figurine

- TMNT mutagen canister

I recently got around to upgrading my computer from my 2010 iMac. I got to redesign and cable manage my desk in the process, yay!

Space is kind of at a premium in my house, so when I moved in I had to build my own desk since my old desk didn't fit anywhere. Up until now, the space you see was taken up by the aforementioned iMac, a shelf for my phone and external HDDs and a couple of game consoles which are going to be the subject of a future post on this forum.

WZGIjHB.jpg

I picked the case more because of its dimensions, since I didn't want to put a case in the bottom compartment in case airflow would have been a problem. Liquid cooling was something I wanted to avoid for now since this was the first time I put together my own PC. It's a pretty significant difference to have all my cables routed underneath the desk where they used to just lay behind the iMac. There is actual space now!

PZmlyHh.jpg

I really like how the system looks, with the rear compartment closed off to hide the PSU and cables. The pre-sleeved cables that came with the RM550x also don't hurt. The big PCIe trunk even helps support the GPU's weight. I'm thinking of making a small wooden strut to support it.

vGYsI9W.jpg

I bought this little Diamond Weapon figurine over 10 years ago and never really had a good spot for him. He's not big enough to stand out on a shelf, so I tried him in the case, I quite like it. The green canister is from an old TMNT toy. I have quite a few more, so I may well end up littering the bottom of the case with radioactive waste.

sMshm1X.jpg

In case people were interested: here's a closer picture of the picture above my monitor. I bought it at a film festival a few years ago. it's an anaglyph 3D image of several Kaiju destroying buildings. This is also why there is a pair of glasses perched on top of the soundbar.

Not really a battle station yet, tough i felt this Mobo deserved a post.

Probably the weirdest motherboard I've had my hands on. Socket 2011, so X79, tough native M.2 support? That's not supposed to exist.

Excuse the ketchup and mustard cables. PSU is only temporary untill I can get a nice high wattage one for stable 24/7 folding use!

I'm still rocking my rig I built in 2012 as my main machine.  It's not the prettiest thing, but it gets the job done. The main upgrades it has had over the years are a 980Ti (I'm borrowing it from a friend) to replace the 600Ti I initially had in it, and the addition of a 250GB SSD.  My CPU is starting to show it's age a little when I try to do more intensive tasks like work in Photoshop, Premiere, and SolidWorks.  I'll hopefully upgrade this rig within the next year, but we'll see what I end up doing.

You play games?

Yep, my library is rather limited as I've only just gained the power to play most games after years with nothing but a cheap laptop.

Apex/League/Minecraft/Civ/HotS/Worms Armageddon/Ori and the Blind Forest are things I've played most recently.

Admittedly, I play more on the Switch currently as I've lost contact with all of my old friends online that have disappeared over the years.
