i3 7100 or i5 4570?

Hello y'all

So my question is about the performance between the two! I heard that i5 4570 is still much faster than the i3 kaby lake?

My concern would be mainly on photoshop and slightly on gaming (occasionally gaming).

Which one should I get?

How about neither because both are outdated and getting something up-to-date like an i3 8100 is fairly better and costs about the same if you go H310 + stock cooler?

or getting a ryzen chip, as more cores can be nice for photoshop. though you would lose a bit maybe as intel still has some advantage in the adobe suite. but consider both, as I agree both you mentioned are outdated

Sadly no... Photoshop is 100% single threaded depended reason why Intel is preferable, Adobe also allows hardware acceleration using the iGPU (If you have a dedicated GPU) mitigating any lack due to less cores and over all stability still is on their side.

So I understand preference for Intel just not why consider Haswell i5 in 2019 when the entry level i3 outperforms it easily and the i3 7100 being a 2c/4t that's just a big nope.

Which one should I get?

Ryzen 1200 or Intel i3 8100

Upgrade path on those older platforms later on won't save you headaches of less available, no warranties, subpar upgrading, old platforms and old chipsets.

Start fresh, with slightly better performance than what you already listed.

I sold a 4670 rig, and of course looked up the 8100 and found its dead on similar, or better, with an actual Upgrade path, and new features.

You have heaps of choices, depending on location.

But overall, with the targets you want, I'd go new, with warranties, and better technology at play, both new and when upgrading later when the base platform matters most upon building.

Longevity.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

oh, i thought it was some kind of a feature that would let intel go ahead to amd... well, 8100 then i guess. but keep ryzen in mind...
