Overclocking Ryzen 5 1600

Recommended Posts

My computer specs

Motherboard: MSI b350 gaming pro carbon

CPU: AMD ryzen 5 1600 with stock cooler

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB at 2800 Mhz

GPU: Zotac 1060 6gb amp

I recently bought my PC and was wondering if I would overclock my Ryzen 5 1600. I have never done this before so I got some questions about it.

 -   If I want to overclock what should I use AMD ryzen master or adjust the multipliers in the bios?

 -   To which frequency should I overclock my CPU and what voltage do I need to do this?

Use the multipliers in BIOS. Start at 1.25V and 100Mhz higher than stock boost.

Run Prime95 26.6 for 5 minutes. If you pass, bump another 100Mhz. If you fail, add 0.005V and try again. Continue until you reach the frequency that you desire, or temperatures go above 80°C. Run Prime95 at the final settings for one hour to confirm stability.

Keep in mind that a multiplier overclock will probably yield lower single core results for 1st gen Ryzen than at stock.

Just FYI, you have to quote or @ someone so they can see you replied to them. The people that were telling you about overclocking won't be able to keep helping if they don't see that you responded. You can quote someone by clicking the arrow in the person's comment box, it's shown in the picture.
