Best value phone right now

Hello! i'm looking for a phone right now, I have a xiaomi mi a1 and I really like the android one experience and my budget is like $360 maximum. I want something that really makes a noticeable upgrade my phone was like $199 new so it should be possible. As an option i'm looking at the honor 10x by now so could you recommend me something else?. I'm not a really heavy user and I dont game on my phone. I mostly use docs, gmail, youtube, whatsapp and instagram. Also its kinda hard for me to see the difference in the pictures comparison they do with high end phones such as in linus videos of pixels, s9 and iphone x.

Have you looked into the Pocophone F1 maybe? Build quality and features are mediocre at that price point, but the money you're paying for the specs is well worth.

Well if value is needed then maybe honor 8x or the new honor play 8A?

Hands down, get a refurbished iPhone 7. It’s good for at least another 2 years with updates. And Instagram works better on iOS. And the speakers on the iPhone 7 are surprisingly good, especially compared to a lot of “value” phones that skimp on good speakers.

Couldn't agree more on how so many phones have dual speaker grills sometimes of which only one functions (In my opinion, I think it's becoming less significant though).

 

Many apps work better on iOS due to the number of phones that use it = Apple Phones. That's significantly lower than that of Android, So apps and mainly games run better on iOS due to optimization. But this is a gap that has been closing in for a really long time and we're starting to see more Android devices support more types of software which is actually happening on both OS's. 

 

If the design of phones pre-2018 don't matter to you or design in general, I agree that the 7 is a solid choice. I mean, yeah you would be missing out on some awesome features being developed right now but the phone holds up surprisingly well. Would say the same for the 6 about a year ago. 

One thing to note though, The chips in Apple phones have gone through a major change over the years, We're now on the A11, perhaps 12.

That's a lot since the release of the 6.

 

Depending on where and how you get it, The P20 is a good choice. But from what you've said, Maybe the Mate 20 Lite suits better. I think that you're buying upfront though whilst I'm on contract so not sure really. A certain carrier in the UK is having a huge sale on the S8 and P20 right now.

@ErykYT3The one thing that bugs me with the iPhone 7 is the lack of quick charge. Even “midrange” Android phones have that feature. And they’re about $200~$300. Like the Nokia 6.1 or Motorola G6. Apple’s lightning cable doesn’t make things easier either. My iPhone 7 takes a while to charge, but I use  off-brand power bricks and cables. 

 

But I have been using an iPhone 7 for about a year now. And this phone still impresses me. You’d think that the smaller screen and massive chin/forehead would be a huge turn-off. But the iPhone 7 is so much easier to hold that way, especially 1-handed.

Yes I have but I want to about the custom skin, also I was thinking about in the same way that I dont need ryzen 7 or an i9 in my computer to do the stuff I do then I also dont need necessarily to have the last flagship processor on a phone. But im considering the Mi A2 cause of the good experience I had with the A1

I really wasnt expecting someone to recommend me iphone! im impressed. Now I never actually used myself anything from apple, how does the phone interact with a windows pc?. Also any thoughts/experience on refurb phones?

I was looking at the nokias with android one they look really good. The moto is a good phone also but I had a really bad experience with the G4 so I want to avoid motorola

I live in california right now, Im not quite sure on the iphone because of all that planned obsolescence/battery/ and the price to do a repair on the iphones. Maybe ive been watching louis rossman too much haha but what can you tell me about that?.Nice on the p20 lite recommendation.

 

Also I want to buy it upfront, im not from the US so Im planning to get the phone here so its cheaper and take it back home without owing.

@zedsdeathI bought a refurb iPhone from a third party and was a bit disappointed. The iPhone itself is great. But the screen has a few deep scratches and the battery was at 86% life. If you buy a refurb unit from Apple I believe that you get a brand new screen and battery. It costs more however.

I do not like its looks that much but many love it so I am gonna say its probably a safe bet!
