As mentioned, it's already a feature for most content. For status updates, it should be implemented in the next significant forum update, probably in the summer.

i would like to have the ability to retract a report. there are some cases where i report something but upon learning context i was wrong for reporting it. it would be nice if i could retract my report in such cases.

If you hit the report button again (on a post), it gives you the option to delete the report.

You cannot retract reports from status updates, maybe it'll be added in the future.
