500 mph Bicycle

So i did plans to custom build a 500 mph supercharged Bicycle i came up with the schematics that would able me to ride unaided, so when i use blender i design end product 

So as you can see i can go 100:1 ratio drive from pedal to rear 27" wheel

Now this is the 50:1 parker gearbox so i may only need 4x4 chain drive given me 400:1 ratio

So diag6 above is where centifugal superchargers go to give 22 PSI air to  help drive rear wheel by sets of vains fix to rear disc wheel  so the air force comes out of centrifugal supercharger forces air pressure against vains helps rear wheel to spin faster just below secret ingredient

Now just below shows back of centrifugal supercharger you can just see the pinion the part which attaches to rear disc wheel to drive the centrifugal supercharger to suck air in to be compressed

20190118_020753.jpgSo as you can see the direction of the supercharger spins 10X the same direction of the rear wheel those holes around rear wheel is where air pressure coming out of supercharger funnels down to help dive rear wheel air pashes against vains coarses wheel to spin fast, to transition force though chain drive from rear wheel to bicycle cranks to increase pedaling velocity, les friction, all needs 2 front canards airofoyal wings on left and right from forks to prevent front wheel from lifting of ground at march 3 so hydrosonic bicycle doesn't take off airborne to keep it on the ground.

What about wind resistance and the wheels not exploding from the RPM

Just keeping this here as a That's land speed record for a woman. The men's record is higher according the article you linked. But more importantly it's worth noting that she was towed up to speed by a vehicle and then the vehicle drove in front of her to punch a hole through the air. Without that assistance that sort of speed wouldn't be possible on a bicycle. Still an impressive feat though and an interesting read. I definitely wouldn't want to straddle a bicycle going 150+mph

let's assume what you want to construct a land speed record vehicle, not a human-powered one, that can run at 800 km/h on a perfectly flat surface. the first thing you need to consider aside from what sorcery need to power that thing, is wind resistance. as you probably know, faster the car goes, the more energy it needs to make it go even faster. thats why high-speed trains look like bullet heads. human body's aerodynamic is closer to a brick than bullet head, so you will need a very strong faring, preferably lightweight one too. And the speed we are talking about is way faster any aircraft's take off speed, and almost close to the speed of sound, which is about 1200 km/h or 340 m/s. Without a faring to reduce drag you'll waste most of your power to counter the aerodynamic drag. Oh, some big fat subaru spoilers helps too, with them you'll probably will take off just under 200km/h, and since you're not making a plane, you'll crash and die.

 

 

secondly, what kind of wheels and tyres do you need to move that thing? rubber tyres cannot cope with that kind of speed, you'll need all metal wheels, really high strength steel wheels, like those in high speed trains. and that makes them very heavy, or lighter aluminium ones in ThrustSSC, the current record holding vehicle. that car is powered by two jet engines, which leads to our third point:

 

 

ThrustSSC is not a bicycle, or human-powered vehicle obviously. This video shows just how difficult for human to ride a bicycle to poultry car speed let alone near speed of sound. https://youtu.be/cZhrqKrljig. have you considered the fact that in order to achieve that kind of speed, perhaps you will need some help to bring your bike to a workable speed? otherwise the torque it requires to move the back wheel from standing start is so high that you simply incapable to peddle yourself moving forward. even if you have superman's thighs, you'll probably end up breaking the cranks. Assisted start is a must, but even if so you’ll probably cant get to 800km/h, because the nature of sprockets and chains, they are too weak for that kind of speed.

 

 

Fourth, the transmission mechanism. While a bicycle is one of the most efficient human powered vehicle, the usual transmission mechanism isn’t. chains have too many moving parts, and all of them is running on sleeve bearings, not something you will want to run at that kind of speed, and that’s why you don’t see cars delivering their horsepower from the gearbox to the wheels via chains. A shaft driven bicycle is probably better for this job, only two gears and a steel rod, can’t be simpler than that, however that also adds additional weight.

 

 

And to fifth and my final point, if you can’t see by now, my most important point is, you simply can’t propel a land vehicle to that kind of speed with mechanical connections, and I already ignored the fact you’re powering it yourself. Land speed record cars with piston engines stops in 600km/h mark because the same reason and make the way for jet powered one in the 2000s, and it will be replaced by rocket-powered one.

Final note, if you have a perfect vehicle that solve all those problems, the last one still remains, how do you power that thing? I believe superman can, but is he a human?

You're going to do 500mph on 1/2 a horsepower? not going to happen. On a flat road with a cyclist going 20mph, countering wind resistance accounts for 90%+ of their power output. This ratio gets worse as you go faster. This is why all pro's use aero bikes unless they are going up a steep hill, usually >9% grade. Even though a climbing bike will be half a kilo lighter, the power saved on cutting wind resistance will out size that gained by a lighter bike.

Just to expand on this, the drag at 500mph will be 625 times the drag at 20mph.  (Drag is a function of velocity squared.)

Depends on the bike, a road bike in a fast but casual group ride sits arounds 18-20mph, the Tour De France riders average 25-28mph for the whole 21 stage tour, with the hill climbs averaging 21-25mph except for the steepest parts. I've personally hit 38.42mph on a downhill, which was scary but not uncontrollable.

 

note that the difference between a good casual cyclist who does a few races here and there and rides with a group every week and a pro who puts in 20km's a year is only 5-10mph.

Well first of all, you don't use blender to design engineering projects, you use something like solidworks.

 

Second, you're not gonna get anywhere near 500mph.

Maybe you should start with a simple calculation of the power needed to move a perfect streamlined body at 500mph.

Then you will see how unrealistic it is.

Im doing one thing at a time, finish doing the computer without taking out any loans, because loans suck, if i did and cannot keep up with the rediculus repayments the bank would repossess seid items, im mutch better than that, save up and purchase a set of 4 DDR4 3200 64GB rams then save up and then purchase 2nd lot of 4 x 64GB DDR4 3200 now all together i successfully own 128gigs of DDR4 3200 rams might take 1 year to achieve that would be better than loans, as for that bicycle im 49 years old it was only a idea back when i was only 40 years old i may not even do it computer more important.

1. The Men's Record was 167 MPH.

2. She recently did her second run, and crushed the record w/ top speed of ~187 MPH.

 

So she actually does hold the land speed record for a bicycle, even though she did not at the time the article was printed.

I only read the article that was posted previously which was a few years old, but 187mph is pretty insane.

Yep. I found the updated info on the Wired YouTube video posted above.

 

And yes, to even get to that speed, it has to be draft assisted. But it's still incredible skill to get that fast even with assistance. And the danger is insanely high, because they've got a... what, 1.5m gap of air to work within.


If she falls back too far, it's like hitting a tidal wave of water.

 

I sure as hell wouldn't try it xD
