Posted January 16 · Original PosterOP I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could boot windows 10 off of my external ssd I bought it from amazon and tried using the windows installation from the Microsoft website and it says that it couldn’t boot from an external drive and I tried going onto YouTube and searching it up it said to use wintousb so I used it and had to download the 3.5 version because it was getting en error and people in the comments said that just to download a earlier version and it worked and I booted from the ssd and it gave me a blue screen error and now I’m stuck trying to figure out what is the next step. Just make a windows usb key and install it onto the ssd. DO NOT ACTIVATE as its a waste of a product key if you are gonna move it across pcs as a crude windows to go platform. It will not work if you plan to use a usb adapter on the ssd.

Try a different USB port on the machine maybe? Never seen that before. It may be trying to load a USB 3.0 driver and disconnecting itself from the drive Beginner's Guide To The LTT Forums Donate Your PC's Unused Processing Power For Science!
