Hm...

Quite a interessting product... not because of the hardware...

The sorfware is really exiting...

Imagine a "Gaming OS" if you will, that can run on every windows machine and cuts short of all the annoying crap windows does...

If such a OS is more friendly for casual users... a "macOS gaming" if you will,,,, that **** will sell consoles...

-Programmers and Savage nerds got "Linux"

-Enterprises and 0815 Folks got "Win 10"

-VideoEditors and famous Lads got "MacOS"

-Gamers and Twitch streamers got "nothing?"

Gamers rise up! We deserve our own OS...

Regards G.

Alienware Alpha.

Any gaming laptop.

I'd tend to agree to this.

Add to this list.... an Intel NUC.  In particular the Hades Canyon NUC.    (One could even add a Mac Mini to the list but it is a big over priced for gaming).

So Steam OS?

If their main goal is to sell hardware, they won't make it publicly available or compatible with a wide selection of hardware. And if their main goal is to sell software, they'll make it hard or impossible to install games from other stores. Okay, I guess I'm being pessimistic, maybe they're not exploitative people. Valve didn't lock out other stores from Steam OS, but Valve were building on top of copylefted open source system, not a proprietary one.

Steam OS was basically a reskinned Linux....

Something like that could be a benefit.  Like how back in the days of windows 3.1 or MS Dos gaming one would have a different autoexec.bat file (A file that was used to autoload various programs as Dos booted up) for gaming VS doing other things.   Especially as Windows 10 bloats up more and more.

Linux is a kernel and doesn't have skins. SteamOS was reskinned Debian with some proprietary packages and if you want a gaming-focused OS, that's the way to go. The problems Linux-based OSs have are there because there aren't enough devs working on them. The problems Windows has are there because Microsoft is an exploitative company that makes their OS serve them, not the users, which is something that's never going to change.

China has its own crowdfunding portal, run by JD Finance. It was on its pages that the OUYE game console project appeared. And he would have been completely unremarkable if not for one simple detail: the console not only in the most arrogant way outplayes the name of another console, which gained popularity due to crowdfunding (meaning OUYA), but also outwardly completely licked from the developments of Sony and Microsoft .
