Thanks All, that’s what I was afraid of. I’ll just go the USB route and buy a new key.

I have a M.2 SSD with windows 10 Pro installed on it from and older computer. In my new build can I just install this SSD and have the computer boot properly or must I boot from a USB with windows 10 installed? Just checking before proceeding. Thanks

It should boot from the windows on the m.2

It will boot, but 99% of the time moving your boot drive to another set of hardware will piss windows off and it will not be a valid install anymore and request you input the key. It may not let you use your old key either. I have had all sorts of broken authentication things happen to me.
