Nvidia to launch GTX 1660 Ti; 1060 Replacement?

Go to solution Solved by poochyena,

I want my gtx 1234 ti

no, better, gtx 1337 ti for the most elite gamerz

From our friends over at VideoCardz:

Quote

We have received a word from a board partner about upcoming Turing-based GeForce graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

Quote

The name is not yet fully confirmed, although we have heard it from two sources (three including the source of this picture).

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is to become NVIDIA’s first Turing-based card under GTX brand. Essentially, this card lacks ray tracing features of RTX series, which should (theoretically) result in a lower price.

New SKU features TU116 graphics processor and 1536 CUDA cores. This means that GTX 1660 Ti will undoubtedly be slower than RTX 2060.

On a contrary to some rumors, our sources claim that GTX 1660 Ti still features GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit bus. So far we have not heard anything about GDDR5(X) variants.

The launch date is not yet set. The new card is likely to be released as GTX 1060 series will fully disappear from the market, so probably not long from now.

1108913476_Nvidia1660Ti.jpg.7297be7d1da4b9aa2e3413ca81619275.jpg

This fits in another rumor that VideoCardz got about the "1660" naming scheme that they thought was an error.

My Thoughts:

We know Nvidia is going to have their actual Mainstream Range on Turing at some point soon, but what that looks like has always been a tad bit of a question mark. This should be a completely different die from the 2060/2070's, fully without RT or Tensor cores. For the volume that the xx60 series sells at, there's no way Nvidia could put RT features on those cards. Still, "1660 Ti" seems clunky. I think moving to 12xx series for the Mainstream cards would make more sense with the High-end cards on 20x0 naming. Then they could have 30x0 and 13xx versions in 2020.

GTX 1660 Ti? okay that's it time to fire whoever's naming products at nVidia.

That aside the card seems to be the budget option yet to exist, it'll be a GTX 1070 for likely a hundred bucks less... not bad and should give the RX580 and RX590 a run for their money.

Can we just stop with those tech news?

Seriously, the entire article seems like satire, especially because already gtx 1160, and rtx 2060 have been leaked, 1660ti just sounds stupid.

So idk, i rate it not very probable out of 10.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

I officially give up on remembering any cpu and gpu model number... How does 1060 jump to 1160 to 1660ti while 980 went to 980ti to 1080 to 1080 ti to whatever. It's so confusing to people that aren't following it full time.

Not really much of a leak if this is the new leak to replace it.

However, given the enormous amount of possible 1160 and 2060 variants, what if this exist in addition to all that? What a nightmare.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I think Nvidia employees have spent too much time at Starbucks. "What would a half-caf 1050 look like?".

More numbers in the model name = better

And that's why it's called windows 2000

Why is nvidia turning back the clock with these names?

Hopefully they don't do a 1080 rebranded as the 1920.

Or do, for the lulz.
