i7 7700k vs Ryzen 5 2600X

I would argue in favor of Ryzen.

 

You can get CPUs that outperform the 7700K on the AM4 socket, whereas the 7700K is already the best you can get on a Z270 motherboard.

 

Ryzen also has more cores, threads, and cache.

The Ryzen is the better one unless you are doing something that require extremely high single core performance...but the 2 extra cores of the ryzen far outweight the slight single thread lead intel has on this one...imho.

If you value single thread performance over anything else then 7700k.

If not, then always Ryzen. 

 

I'm happy with both my 2400G and 1700X.
