For gaming? No. For basically anything else? No. Should you get a different Linux distro instead of Ubuntu? Yes.

 

Some of my favourites are MX Linux and Manjaro Linux, but I'd look around on distrowatch.com if I were you.

Not all, but a lot of them.

 

Its nice to be somewhat informed on the matter imo. 

 

Linux is probably the best alternative when it comes to light laptops for studywork. A lot better than Chromebooks imo
