Should resetting my HP Laptop take 15 hours +

Hello! I am resetting my 2015 HP Pavilion Laptop. The system reset to factory specs has been going for over 15 HOURS! Is this normal? Cheers if anybody knows about this.

No man, shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I suggest a fresh clean install.

Use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create an ISO onto your USB Drive

It should not take more than 15 - 20 minutes.

Can't I do that from settings so without an ISO?

Really? I have factory reset this laptop about 5 times. All of them have worked just taken ages.

If it doesn't have an SSD, it's probably normal. I've had laptops with hard drives go overnight and still not be done.

Same. My old Lenovo had a 5600RPM drive in it. took 1 1/2 days

That makes sense. I am pretty sure it doesn't have an SSD (just a 1TB HDD).

Thanks everybody for your help!

Well if that's the case then that's good news I guess you won't have to go through the trouble. Just leave it alone for a while it should complete eventually. If you keep looking at the screen sometimes it just won't finish. LOL

A 2015 laptop that likely has a Hard Drive instead of an SSD would take quite a bit longer, and if the hard drive is slowly starting to fail then this makes sense. I would swap to a new SSD sometime soon, and if you want to go the cheaper route at least get a Seagate FireCuda Hybrid drive.
