Question about changing from w7 to w10

mxk

Heyo,

today I discovered that in order to use adaptive sync with my 1070ti and freesync monitor, I need to be on windows 10, but I'm on windows 7 right now. I happen to have a product key, so I'll be changing to windows 10. My only question is, when I change my OS will I lose all the data I have on my PC at the moment? I assumed so, but wasn't sure.

Thanks.

You can do an upgrade that will keep programs and apps, but there is a chance of issues, so always have a good backup before any major upgrade.

Eh my PC could probably use the wipe so I think It'll be fine.

What would I be backing up? Sorry I'm a little confused.

Made copy of your system by made image using Macrium Reflect. Images are mountable, so after you install Win10, you'll have access to all files you had on your old sysem, just in case you'll need some program, settings or even registry entrie. This is the way I switch to win10 - it takes long time, but always when some program or configuration was missing, I mounted my old win7 image, copy files I need and that's it.
