Monoblock or CPU Only Block

One of our fellow PC Enthusiasts at my work offered me an EK Monoblock for my system and I was wondering, is it worth it to spend the $70 he is asking me for it to replace my existing Supremacy EVO CPU Only block?  Will it make OCs more stable or is this really just for the look?

It would only cool the vrm which can be done with a fan. Even without a heatsink.

If you want to spend the money then go for it. Looks are part of what make a PC a PC. But cooling the VRMs would help maintain your motherboard if you are overclocking

@H20Burner and @RayMurr Thank you for your input.  I do realize that the only additional thing this would be cooling is the VRM and honestly I already have a custom fan mount installed with a 120mm fan blowing air over the RAM, VRM, and M.2 slot.  I was thinking that water cooling that could potentially be more efficient than the fan and also take care of the CPU as well.  As for this being about the look, I guess I would agree.  I think I was just hoping I would have a better argument for the wife as to why I was purchasing something else for the computer.  Oh, well I love having those discussions.

Most high end motherboards have enough vrm cooling stock. If you run a monoblock it will dump more heat in your loop and cpu temps will go up a tiny bit vs cpu block only.

@andrewmp6 Would the Maximus X Hero qualify as high end or would I need to step up a level?

If your hitting 5ghz now then the board is fine to me.To me most monoblocks are more for looks or the case don't have airflow needed to cool them. Its really up to you if you do it or not.And besides ek look at bitspower see if they make a monoblock for it.Most of the bitspower monoblocks look better then eks to me.Or see if heatkiller makes vrm blocks for it.
