Disk read error on new ssd

DragonsRift

A friend of mine just got a new ssd. When he tries to boot the drive sometimes will not show up as well as being really slow, but when it does show it gives a disk read error

Hmm..

I'd reinstall windows and when choosing the source location - delete all partitions so you have all unallocated space available from the SSD.

See if this then allows you to install windows and check for symptoms that you mentioned.

Could also be a faulty drive, hence why issues with speed.

Some units experience this problem due to a low power consumption feature in the SSDs, and they do not start after a reboot completes. Update the firmware of this SSD and check again if the problem was resolved.
