Not if the dog has been properly trained. I've walked the large dogs of several friends and they learned quickly that I wouldn't tolerate them trying to drag me. It didn't take a large amount of force either. When they pulled to hard on the leash, I would firmly pull back (not jerk!) and firmly say no. If they didn't get the message then, I just stopped walking until they figured it out. They usually learned quickly (and all learned eventually).

yep... because mine could if she wanted and did it before, but now she normally doesn't, exept if she's really scared or something... a 50 kg sintbenard-like dog is easily going to pull you away

Larger dogs = more money spent on food = more energy that requires to be exhausted = larger shits that need to be cleaned up = bigger toys = larger mats = perhaps higher cost of grooming/vet bills/insurance.

Yeah, tell me about it. Both of ours are about 75lbs, so not even THAT big, but big enough. lol.

They are high-energy but we walk/run them multiple times per day on our farm to "wear them out". Sometimes that isn't enough and Moses is still wanting to play when we're ready for bed.

I love this and I love seeing so many pits & pit mixes on here. They are such a gentle breed. The only hint of aggression in one of our dog's, is the female, Olivia and that comes from the american bull dog trait to be protective of her people and property. That being said, we manage it just fine with her through training and socialization. Training and socialization are KEY and it's best to start from day one.

Speaking of training and big dogs pulling you, we use gentle leader halties with our dogs. It goes over their head and muzzle (but they are not muzzles, they can still open their mouths fully) so that if they decide to pull, it pulls on their heads instead of their necks and they don't like it. It stops them from pulling immediately. With a leash on their collar, it's too much like a harness and they love that feeling of pulling on a harness. With dogs that are mostly muscle, these have been a huge help with training. They now walk beside us as they should without pulling at all and it gives us a lot more control over them. You can see the halties on them in this picture:

Beautiful!

Due to the stigma my Pitador (pit lab mix, or we call it a Labrabull) we had him Canine Good Citizenship tested and approved.  He is EXTREMELY obedient but that was only cured through the training.  The breed itself is so loyal it just wants to do what you want it to do.

My pit only shows aggression in 1 form.  If you enter our property.  Not if my kids stick their hands in his dish while eating bacon, etc.  Only if you enter our property...and let me tell you a secret - hes actually all bark no bite, a HUGE...cat lets say lol (but by all appearances he makes you think your about to die lol).  But he does exactly what I need for my home protection - buys me 5 seconds if I need it.

Sounds like our Olivia. In the same situation, she will warn you and it's scary. But only if you're a stranger. When we introduce her to new people on our property or who come to the house, we put her on the halty and she is totally fine. It's like she knows to behave with that thing on. Once she has had a chance to sniff and say high, we can take the halty off and she's as friendly as can be. It's just for that initial encounter that she can be stand-offish.

Moses on the other hand, just wiggles his whole body with joy when anyone approaches, lol.

With both of them, you can put your hands or your face in their food bowls while they eat and they couldn't care less. So glad they are not food-aggressive. We worked on that from day one as well though. Sticking our hands in their faces and bowls while they ate as puppies, to get them used to it.
