She's very proficient at a lot of things now, she loves learning stuff too, which is great

 

Bought her a new collar today (pic in next post), very cheap too, though that wasn't my aim for it actually, was just looking for one with a decent enough room for growth... it's a Halti too, and goes from 13-20 inches, which should last her to adulthood pretty much... I couldn't believe how cheap it was 

 

 

Also ordered her a harness, so we can take her in the car in that rather than her carrier then... coming in a few days.

 

Oh, little update for you, she is now 13" neck, 23" chest and 14.4Kg.

 

OK, well I'm off to do a bit more training with her and make a game of it too.

Dinky's name as become a bit of an oxymoron since she isn't exactly Dinky anymore. That reminds me of the Lab mix my son had. As a pup, he was pure white so my son named him Snowball. But, as he grew older, more and more of the dog's yellow lab "traveling salesman" Daddy came through and he looked more like yellow snow.

Yeah,she's getting bigger... still smaller than other pups her age though by a fair amount. I love her though, she's getting much better at everything, even whines a little to let us know she wants out to do her business, which is a relief as one point we didn't think she'd ever stop going in the house

From what I have read, on dog psychology, is that it's more about getting them to realise that our house is their house, as dogs will not want to mess up their own house, so starting off with a crate is better for everyone, and gradually give them access to more of the house. We couldn't do that though as our crate for her is in our living room, which to get to our garden is 3 rooms away as the dog would see it, hall, kitchen and back hall before getting to the outside door. We just had to try and be patient with her, and if she went to squat try and get her outside. I think it was mostly her becoming more territorial that helped also with her training in that regard, as the two things seemed to coincide, her barking at unknown or perceived threats and finally the lightbulb going off about doing it outside all the time. She still doesn't bark when people knock on the door weirdly though... but I am glad for the moment. She will do it we know as my brother's and sister's dogs bark when they're here, so she'll join in and then just do it we reckon. |Even weirder though, if she's looking out the window she barks if she sees one of us outside, but we think it's more a chuff of recognisance, and wonder.

 

Unfortunately we just changed her food (don't ask, wasn't my call), and hey presto woke up to her being covered in crap in her cage at 5.30am.... so yeah an impromptu bath was in order. And she has been so good too, this is the first time in like 3 weeks she's done ANYTHING in there, her pad is usually dry in the mornings, we still use one just in case as puppies have accidents, as you know.

 

We still keep an eye on her, but give her a bit freer range of the house now that she comes to tell us if she needs "out". I am Sooooo relieved

She must already be either laying down or "roll over" when I do the "play dead" command, and also sometimes need to touch her belly when saying it

Don't worry, Not So Dinky will eventually learn to associate the tactile command with the verbal command.

Chillin "on place" at the cottage the week before last. There were dogs barking and people talking at the neighbouring cottages and they pretty much ignored all of it.

 

 

They LOVED the boat...

 

 

They also turned 2 on August 1st.

 

This was Olivia's response when we told her we had to go home the next day, lol.  (she was snapping at an annoying fly)
