have i connected my ssd properly ?

i think i have connected my ssd in properly 

 

i used the power and data cable used for the cdrom (i know an old pc) and connected the ssd like this 

 

when i look for the drive it isn't there, im wondering what else do i do ?

Go to disk management > right click the drive with the black bar on it > set a volume

i worked it out, the cable had actually come out of the ssd, but it looks like it was still in my bad
