"Floatplane payments are moving"

Can we get that annoying message to just go away permanently?  I don't do Floatplane.  I couldn't care less about Floatplane.  I don't want to be constantly annoyed by a message I have to click away every other time I visit the forum, for a service I don't use and don't ever care to use.  Yes, it's a small annoyance, but it's still an annoyance nonetheless.

Just click the small "X" on the right.

it's a cookie-based dismissal ._. also it's something inherent to this forum's engine, so all the clever sorting stuff for type-specific things is kinda hard to do without dev intervention outside this forum

Yep, exactly.  Maybe every other visit is a bit hyperbolic, but not by much.  It does seem to come back quite often.

Considering I don't clear my cookies, I don't know why it keeps coming back then.

I only clicked it once and it hasn't came back.

If you're not clearing cookies, it should dismiss for a week at a time. If that's not happening, can you press F12 to open the dev tools, and switch to the Console tab, then run paste each of the following lines separately, pressing enter between them:

window.localStorage.length
document.cookie.length

Each of those should give you a number - what are those numbers?

It's actually CTRL+SHIFT+I in Opera, but I got 358 and 730 respectively.

The one thing I did consider, is that I tend to access this forum (amongst other sites) from multiple computers throughout the day.  I wonder if that's somehow forcing the setting to reset sooner than anticipated.

Here's an idea.

Host the floatplane spam on Floatplane.

Seagull eat fish. But fish belong to Mafia. Mafia punch seagull for not respecting Mafia. Seagull say "No, please! I have child!"

Mafia punch seagull with child.

They look fairly normal. The cookies should be tied to your device, so switching to another device will mean that the announcement will show on the new device, but it should continue to be hidden on the old one.

Do you also have to log in again on devices where the announcement showed itself again?

It is migrating to floatplane.com. However, while the migration is ongoing, people who subscribed here and now have had their subscription cancelled and moved to the new site need to know what's going on.

Then email them. Make the notifications specific to those that had floatplane accounts. Something were those of us that don't give a shit about a YouTube Red knockoff aren't being pestered with spam.

The email was already sent out. But as there are spam filters and likes, this is way better. At least no one can complain that information wasn't presented visibly enough.
