2.5 raid case or Unraid?

I've been looking to make some back-up drives from old laptop 2.5 HDDs (as they are being swapped out for SDD).  Wondering if I should get a case like GLOTRENDS 25R USB 3.0 2 Bay RAID Enclosure or just get two cheap enclosures and run Unraid?

for $43 is very cheap, i say its a good bargain, personally i never seen such enclosure.

other option is to have NAS enclosure so you can connect via LAN / Network.

But if the purpose is solely just to backup this is a great solution, it is faster than gigabit lan.

You can also turn it off if not used, to maximize the disk lifespan.

But the 2.5 drives is not that fast unless you insert a ssd drive.

Yeah, that's $43 CDN.   I just started researching these cases.  Only because I have some drives lying around.  Turns out it's a thing.

 

There are also Dual mSATA RAID and M.2 NGFF SATA RAID enclosures.
