Intel 9400F hits Amazon

At $208 it doesn't make any sense to me unless it performs better than a 9400 w/igp. If I had to pick an i5 9000 series CPU I would just spend another $56 and get a 9600K, though none of them are that attractive to me without hyper threading.

I don't think i5s have ever had hyperthreading so if anything the mid tier Intel CPU range is of no interest to you. 

 

I do agree though that if Intel releases non-IGP CPUs of the same processors and the performance is roughly the same then it's just a further piece of evidence in the ever growing pile of examples of Intel milking more money from their consumers with no gain for the consumers.

Intel is only doing this because of the 14nm shortage, they had to find a way to get those CPUs with defective iGPU out somehow, the price cut is nowhere near enough to justify going for one of these.

 

Specially now when so many applications can finally utilize the iGPU through QuickSync for hardware acceleration.

I don't agree with this sentiment.  I don't think adding another CPU to their portfolio hurts anyone and no one's being forced to buy it.  If it didn't exist intel wouldn't have a 9th Gen CPU at the $200 price point.  That being said there is no stock on Amazon it either sold out or hasn't been in stock yet.

So products like 9th vs. 8th gen i5 where they're essentially the same chip clocked higher is not milking money from the consumers? They're basically reselling old tech and passing it off as new tech at a higher price and anyone who's not following the CPU scene won't know the difference and it's normal for consumers to go for the latest stuff to be "safe" when investing in anything. That's what I don't agree with and I want to make it clear that I don't think Intel is the only one who does this I'm just stating Intel because this thread is about Intel.
