It will become an external one, and the speed depends if they're just throwing on a USB 3.0 label for laughs or if it's actually using USB 3.0

Hmm you better buy something called HDD Docking Station.

It support 3.5 and 2.5 (depends on the model) and its just look nice IMO you just stick your HDD inside it and thats it.

Example:

 

But make sure that it can support all type of 3.5..because i bought one from Orico and it doesnt have enough power to spin my old 750GB HGST SATA 2 HDD.
