Side panel fans, yay or nay?

You could always just try to get a case with good airflow, that airflow should help cool the VRMs a lot. Maybe a Cooler Master H500. Side panel fans do help a lot, you could try Fractal Design's Define S and Define R5

Hi there helpful people :)

Considering buying a new case because parts of MB get high temps.

Specifically VRM MOS idles at 51 right now and my hands are cold, so room temp is pretty low.

It hits 80ish I think at max benchmark loads, used to hit 100+ before, but I got RAM fans that are hitting the RAM sideways so the air spreads to the rest of the MB.

They're sideways because the CPU cooler is huge and slightly covers the RAM :)

So I was thinking about getting a case with side fans to give the MB some love.

Yay or nay?

Aerocool XPredator Evil Black Edition is the one I'm considering, 150 euros.

If you support side fans, but think there's a better alternative, I'd love some suggestions :)

Thanks!

you get really good temps with those, but they are *really* old and look terrible. i dont get why they dont get updated with new designs

Fractal's Define S/R5 look pretty good, just that they don't have a window due to the side fan

They do have a side fan? In the pictures it looks like there's a bump on the case where the fan would be, but it's solid, no opening or holes.

Are they just misleading pictures?

Looks like a removable panel to me, the specs do say that a 120/140mm fan can be fitted onto the side.
