Will Legacy PCI work on Asrock Z370 Pro4 + i7 9700k?

Hello world!

Need to have working legacy pci slot and want current i7 or i9

From motherboards that have legacy pci, asrock z370 pro4 seems ok and supports i7 9700k and i9 9900k.

Question is

Would pci slot work with those cpu's? Or should i pick i7 8700k which is proven working solution.

Thanks

It should because what will handle the PCI is the chipset not the CPU itself.

Its bridged anyway.

You can also use, if you want to, a PCIe to PCI Bridge Card.

For example:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158165

But I'd rather wait another week until the CES is done. There might be some interesting announcement that could influence pricing...

Princess Cadence

Thanks for tech clarification.

Just don't want a hassle with cpu returns in case 9700 or 9900 will not work with pci. Can't find any info on intels web, regarding pci support in new cpus.

GoldenLag

Legacy PCI

not pcie

If there is users who's sporting z370 pro4 + i9, i7 and using old pci slot, share your experience please.

Ps(funny i9 plus pci.... Haha... And no rgb lights? Cmon, manufacturers should gap this hole with premium boards supporting beauty in 2019 and oldie pci)

See what I've written.

Its bridged anyway. You can also get a PCIe to PCI Adapter, I linked one of them above...

I recommend NOT using that Board because of the Power Consumption of the i9...

So you better look at other solutions.

And also wait a week and think about the thing you want again...

Ok

Thanks a lot!

Which mb would you recommend for i9 9900k plus pci riser? 200 bucks range

Would msi z370 pc pro or gigabyte z370 hd3p be better? These mb have pci.

About power consumption

It's rated 95w tdp? same as 8700k,9700k

In turbo on all cores it's about 170w.

RME 9652... That is a dual slot full height PCI card, and thus it will limit your options. The card @Stefan Payne mentioned can not have a full height card stacked on top of it, so you would need a half height PCI slot blank on top to hold that card down, and use a PCI flexible riser to bring the PCI bus to the sound card. It is lucky that your chassis supports vertical graphics card mount, so mount the PCI sound card on that vertical mounting slot and use the riser cable to connect it to the PCIe to PCI adapter card.

Should you not have a case that supports vertical graphics card mounting, you will have to swap out the motherboard to a micro-ATX or mini-ITX one and add an right angle PCI riser card along with the flexible riser.

Yes, was just an example.

There are other, better suited solutions, for example:

^that one is mini PCIe though...

Best thing seems to be this:

Ooh, very interesting thread here.

The next question, for me, about those boards, is ..
Has anyone managed to have the following O.S running on either the Azrock Z370 Pro4 OR the Gigabyte Z370 HD3P (rev. 1.0):
Win xp x86?  How about XP x64?

And are there any restrictions cpu wise when using win Xp on either board?

Reason beihind myy extra question , and why I am after a board with legacy PCI slot is as follows:

I am looking to 'migrate' my old dual boot Win7 Ultimate x64 - Win Xp Pro from old Ga-X58-A UD7 with 6cores/12thread Xeon W3690  --- Onto a Z370 board that has a legacy PCI slot for my old M-audio Audiophile 2496 PCi Audio  card with good old Steinberg Cubase 5, and to benefit from the 2 nvme onboard, the ddr4 and either similar specs 8th gen i7 as off specs of those old Xeons or better even if possible

Thanks in advance for any input you may have

P
