WAN show mic is fake?

it kinda looks cheap and fake. also when they move away from it it never gets quieter.

Well i do recall in some of the Wan shows of them hitting the center mic and hearing it. Also we do hear a lot of people coming to them to talk and hearing them quite well, so the mic should be quite open, and not an individual to both for them. Of course it doesn't have to be this specific mic in the shot as it is.

They always mess with the mic and I hear them bumping it around and stuff. Don't know why they would take the effort of having a fake mic on screen, just adds clutter. I myself haven't watched the latest WAN show yet so maybe the audio was coming from the camera or some other mic.

Like its probably isnt the most expencive thing in the world.

 

They probably also use some equalizing during encoding to help with the balance of audio

they have like a pile of condenser mics and a ton of different ones have appeared on the show, why the FUCK would they buy fake one even if they're weren't actually using it?

It's a nice mic, it sounds good, they have bumped it and had to whisper into it 

 

They use compression so volume changes aren't drastic, you know normal intermediate level audio stuff 101.

 

I think maybe you've been watching too many people who just slap a mic down and don't know what they're doing

because mics that are expensive usually dont have see through cages with a tiny thing inside. Even if it is real, they dont record with it i think. they probably just think it looks cool or something.

maybe they use some filter to equalize the gain, idk. I just though it is weird. Also i have seen the http://bit.ly/2GVgiJe post. so they should have it in the first place. I know it is their choice in all, but it is just there, and it honestly doesnt sound that great.

Wan show has quite possibly the worst audio of any podcast/videocast i listen to, no matter how much money they throw at their setup, they are never going to get it right.

AKG C414 is ~$1000 microphone which is studio standard for decades and it has see through grill

I just found pewdiepie has the same one. I think the wan show mic isnt the problem about the quality, maybe locations? Maybe settings?

I believe Linus and Luke both use mics clipped to the inside of their shirts. The transmitter is in their backs somewhere, I thought that was basic broadcasting practice.

i know for their other videos they use these $999 low profile mics. They look like pens. But the quality does suck. Idk if  they do something to the quality for better streaming? I mean they have every cpu in the world and 10 gbps internet

yep I think so too, makes sense from the pictures I see of the thumbnail picture as I dont watch his videos anymore due to the click bait titles and the silly facial expressions, but I do like to read the headline titles and comment on them. More so if I have written a Tech News post.

The mic is made for one person and they have two. You would normally place it closer and directly speak into it. That way you can turn the gain down and get less noise while having a louder and clearer track. They should invest in one more and then put pop filters on both and then a boom arm attached to the table

This thread cracks me up. Do people just not understand what a properly mixed setup with compression should sound like? The mic they are using is a condenser mic, a slightly above average one, but still it should sound better than your $50 Razer headset. I'm an audiophile and run a 10 channel mixer with a stereo condenser mic (Audio Technica AT4050ST) with compression for my TeamSpeak server. If you care about good audio, what LTT is doing is basics 101.

but why does it have omnidirectional then? also i feel like they would be better off with a couple or blue yeticasters (blue yeti with arm)

Just want to say, I believe the mic is real, but i doubt that is where the audio is coming from.
