It's not stupid, but I don't think it will work the way they would like.
I also don't think that it's going to reduce waste. If anything it will generate more.

Phoneblocks is as stupid as custom computers back in the days before everything became standardized.

It's not very stupid however its slightly hard although it can but can be practical for beginners & experts to use.

why is it stupid and why won't it work?

Because the way the pins would work and the size of the blocks. The way i see it you cant just have multipurpose pins where they can switch from power to data and stuff liek that also the hardware would be expensive not to mention you dont need to change some stuff like the wifi chip and whatever.

That's where the great "innovation" thing comes into play. They can design something that does just that. I'm sure they used to say you'd never have a tv you could fit into your pocket. Look what happened. We have full fledged PC's in our pockets.

The wifi chip could use changing. You can get vastly superior chips. There isn't only one type of wifi chip. Though in the phone this would most likely be incorporated into the CPU block, as it's part of the SoC I believe.

you've provided no evidence for your argument. you simply stated that they are stupid.

if you are reading this you are wasting valuable time and should maybe rethink your life choices.

I'm fine without evidence (this isn't a report) but I would have liked some reasons as to why he thinks it's stupid. Reasons it won't work, won't be adopted, etc.

Its not stupid. Its just the expectation that all these companies are going to engineer their stuff through a single standard feels unlikely.

Up to a certain point one of them's just going to go "We can engineer our own design, it'll be cheaper, easier to work with, less bulky, and we'll corner more of the market with this 'new innovative' design"

I like the idea in theory, but I can't imagine it being implemented as well as it sounds. Let's wait and see for something working before we knock it down.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I think it would be amazing if they could pull it off. They would need like fake blocks to fill in extra spots though wouldn't they?

The biggest problem I see with this, is screen size. Sure, you can change the front panel with different sized screens but the footprint will always remain the same.
Want a smaller phone? You'd have to buy a smaller base. So you're still limited, and they still have to produce the different sizes.

Thus, really, the waste is still produced.

Considering there is also a functional demo of the concept.

No. It's far from stupid and it'a a step into the right direction.

Reading over your post. You are just nit-picking and fail to grasp the main idea.
