As a gamer suffering from single sided deafness Im always looking for new ways to get my audio feedback in a way that i can tell where players footsteps are coming from or where shots are coming from (i play lots of competitive shooter games). Do you think these headphones would provide any type of edge to me as to telling where sounds are coming from verses how now i just use mono side and everyone and everything comes from my left?

How useful is it for someone who's deaf like me? I'm deaf on both ears and have a cochlear implant for both sides, but only wear my right side. Does this headset prove to be useful in allowing me get a surround sound?

I remember dropping $149 on a set of Sony XB700 cans many many years ago. The thumping bass that I heard when first putting them on reminded me of a set of $5000 floor standing monoliths. They're not quite a t the level you would hear from Hi-Res audio headphones, but they are damn close. Many audiophiles swear by them, even with the need to replace the fake leather cushions which disintegrate over time, and especially if you have hairy ears. I was able to snag some replacement cushions from a Hong Kong supplier, but originals are becoming increasingly harder to source. Many after market replacements are not as thick so when you wear them your ear then hits the inside.

 

Sony in their infinite wisdom stupidity stopped producing them. A new set today imported from Japan will cost you $700.

Alright, so new user because of this.. long time LTT watcher, but anyway

 

Why is this suddenly a "big thing"? I've been using a vibrating headset for over a year now. 
Trust hawk 7.1 Bass vibration headset.  I know its made by Trust, but the quality isnt bad at all tbh.

Clear mic, kinda meh build quality, but good enoug for +/-60 europese Rupees.

Our initial strategy was to start with a "clickier" title and replace it with an "SEO optimized" one after the first wave of viewers.. But over time the importance of SEO has given way to the importance of attracting clicks for content that is shown to potential viewers algorithmically. 

 

Since we made the titling/thumbnail change about 2 years ago, we've experienced phenomenal growth. You might not like the stupid titles and thumbnails (neither do I) but we are running a business here and running a (successful) business means following DATA, not FEELINGS.

Right I totally understand from a business perspective it makes all the sense in the world. After reading the Youtube comments you can see the audience is different than that of the forum. It appeals more to the wow factor and because we can. Rather than things like how to's and headphone reviews of yesteryear. You're sorta stuck and I guess I would rather have a forum than not, so in the time being keep on doing what you need to. Hopefully youtube will change

I've never been bothered by the titles /thimbnails/aspect ratio. It's a LTT video it pops up on my phone and I add it to my watch list. Here for the content :D

As for a comment on the video. I want. Deaf in one ear. I get killed from the left more often than the right and any time I hear a shot I spin on the spot to try and locate.

I appreciate the transparency on this matter. Ultimately, I'd prefer LTT to keep doing well and if it means more of these types of titles than I'm fine with it. Also, as you're aware, several LTT videos have been trending on YouTube this month so it's clearly working.

Is there a large difference between LTT and TechLinked videos in regards to this? Techlinked just seems a lot more clickbaity and not really for people who follow tech.

Those remind me of a konix headset that is sold in some stores where i live , i found it there :

They pretty much do the same thing , and for only 50$ , plus have a toggle vibration button . one of my friends had one and i loved it , and it's definetely true that you don't think it does much when you have it enabled , but when you disable the vibration , any games sudently feels uhm , less.. alive ?

 

Anyway , i think making a DIY version of those could be a funny project , im thinking about buying two small tactile transducers (aka bass shakers) putting them on my headset and connecting them to the speaker output of each ear , it would basically do the same but im guessing i might need some sort of amp .

 

Still would be a very cool project.

Unfortunately, that goes to show who your main audience is. Oxhorn gets his many views without resorting to that sort of crap (yes I know his views are a drop in the bucket compared to yours, but his channel has grown exponentially in the last year), and it's a breath of fresh air.
