Is Biostar X370GT7 any good in 2018?

So i've been thinking of buying the Biostar X370GT7, mostly because the price in my country is really good for a X370 board with that look, VRM and whole overall.

Most of the user reviews come from 2017 and there are some good, and some bad.

Does anybody have it for some time and can tell, what is the experience of using it? Any serious problems? Were there any singificant bios updates? What about the ram speeds?

I want to pair it with 2x8gb of Trident Z ( F4-3000C16D-16GTZR) but the feedback from 2017 shows me that they weren't pretty good pair for this mobo. Maybe something changed since then.

The CPU i would use is r5 2600

yes. i have run a biostar gt5 and it was ok, however, you will need to update to the latest bios to run a 2000 series cpu.

They're noted for being poor quality. Buy ASUS, AsRock or MSi if you can

The update wont be a problem, did you have the gt5 in 2018?

The VRM might be the same stuff on the Crosshair 6 Extreme, but the rest of the board and the brand itself is... not great. If it's cheap then sure, but do note that you get what you paid for

no i tested it about a week after it came out.  also for the price it has by far the best vrm. if i remember correctly it has same vrm as the asrock tachi and better than the asus crosshair vi hero. The bios was not so good when i tested it, but still managed to clock the ryzen 7 1700 to 4.025ghz. It has had many updates since then so as long as the 2600 is on the cpu support list you will be fine.

I'm mostly concerned about major failures and compatibility with the Trident Z ram sticks. The price of the x370gt7 is around the price of msi b450 tomahawk where i live

I have the GT3 since the 1st gen ryzen, still up and running, not a single problem.

I even manage to install hackintosh with minimal tweaking.

Clocked my 1600 to 3.9 once, but i defaulted most of the time (not really cared about oc).

This is a cheap no frills motherboard, there's no fancy softwares like in asus or gigabyte.

The bios are crap, but if you're not into overclocking, its great.

Make sure they have a good representative in your country.

There might be a big problem with a good representative, i live in a country that doesn't really matter much imo,

I'm still running Z370GT6 after a year and still no problems whatsoever. Maybe they were lower quality before, but they stepped up the game honestly. Also have a B450GT3 and that one works nice, also without a problem. Unfortunately, people are still hanging on to the old manufacturing and material quality. Even the reviews that I read were very positive so I don't see anything to be concerned about.
