Reusing old Laptop screen

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

After i got my PC built a few weeks ago, I spent all my budget for my whole setup on my GPU (Because i got a steal deal). I forgot to buy a monitor. So, i just hook it up to my living room's TV. And, i can't use my TV everytime. It sucks :(

So, I'm planning to reuse my old laptop screen (InnoLux BT140 GW01 V.9) and buy a cheap universal controller board and just hook it up with my PC. Is it a good idea? Because i guess the panel is really old

well, you can, but the hassle and cost isn't worth it for such a old panel. just get a new monitor in a while. It might not be ideal, but it is much better

It should work, but at the same time I personally don;t think it would be worth it.

For the price of a driver board, you can probably pick up an old monitor second hand that you can use whilst you save up for something better.

That's what I'd do anyway...

I will only ever answer to the best of my ability - there is absolutely no promises that I will be correct. Or helpful. At all.
