Installing a PSU

Supreme_

I am trying to install a Semi-Modular PSU into my PC. I don't think I remember how to wires were in it last time, but what goes in the Peripheral and Sata slot? I don't think I know if there was anything in it, but like I have two wires that could fit in it.

Hopefully, those pc connectors are pretty straightforward - if it doesn't fit, then it's not the droid you are looking for.

Anyways, you can just google it out, like 'sata power connector', and see what do you need in the picture.

I think they fit into both.

Peripheral/SATA should either be differently keyed or otherwise not labelled.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The Peripheral and SATA power supply slot is for inserting Peripheral (also referred to as Molex) and SATA power cables.

I think two cables that have Type4 on them fit into both of these:

Yes, and what connectors are on those two Type4 cables? Do they have SATA and/or Peripheral connectors? Yes? Then it'd make sense they fit into Peripheral&SATA connectors on the PSU, right? :P

By the way, the two Peripheral&SATA slots you circled aren't the only ones - the top right one is also a Peripheral&SATA slot.

This helps with what exactly? Is there a point you're trying to make?

SATA power cables have a 3.3V wire, while Peripheral ones don't.

I apologize, but can you tell me where those go in on my PSU? If you can I would greatly appreciate it.

You're holding one cable with Peripheral connectors, and one cable with SATA connectors.

Your power supply has three Peripheral&SATA slots, each one accepts both Peripheral and SATA cables.

You plug your Peripheral and SATA cables into one of the three Peripheral&SATA slots on your PSU.

Which one is the one with Peripheral connectors?

Yep. Exactly.

the periperal one is for those old school plugs like for old IDE hard drives and those some old case fans that have those "thick" pins.  Most modern devices don't use those anymore, but some might.  I believe they were also known as 12v "molex" plugs also.  Some old fans that didn't have fan control came with those.  There were adapters that let you plug those fans into the motherboard but many of those old fans simply drew too much amps to be plugged into a motherboard :P  Like the infamous 190 CFM Delta fan.

The SATA plug is for newer HDD's and SSD drives that have that "thin" connector on the drives.

I'm still shocked that the ends of your cables aren't named and just say 'type 4' and stuff.  That tilts me so much.

Seasonic for example labels their plugs on BOTH ends, clearly, so its very easy to know exactly where they go.
