Agreed, I really don't like when companies throw in a BR mode just to attract all the 12 years playing Fortnite. But the game going free doesn't surprise me too much since Valve makes tons of money from the weapon skins.

That's true, I mean I don't have a problem with the game going free in essence or anything, however I do take issue with the fact that it's clearly just to attract fortnite kids and that us previous players get uh what? A weapon skin? I mean, come on. At least put $20 in our wallet funds.

You know what FPS game will always be safe from BR though?

 

Star Wars: Battlefront II(2005).

 

Actually would recommend, a pretty active community of players, and minimal hacking. Online play came back not that long ago, which has been great. For like $5, would recommend.

Wow. What a way to be a dick about it, Valve.

 

They could have just launched it as a spin-off game and still focus on CS:GO but with this it's obvious the real CS:GO everybody knows is mostly dead.

 

And now we'll have to put up with even more cheating, a bunch of literal 12 year olds who were too busy playing Fornite to notice real video games, and old CS:GO community will probably die off because of the lack of changes going forward to CS:GO and also the alienation of the old game mode with most people probably playing the new one and the old one probably only gonna be played at eSports tournaments.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Oh boy, the "CSGO is dead" comments are coming.

I've experienced this with TF2, and look at that, it still tops the Steam top 10 player counts almost every day.

CS isn't gonna die with this; it's been known for a while that Valve was working on a battle royale mode for CS if you paid attention to the community well enough.

It going free to play is a little weird, though, although I guess I'm not too surprised, considering that it initially went free-to-try a few months back.

And that's the power of the Source engine, folks. Shitty ass 14 year old engine STILL being used.

The cap at 18 players is not a limitation of Source Engine, have in mind casual matchmaking is a 10 x 10 = 20 players game mode.

 

The explanation is that VALVe is trying to keep the core of CS:GO as in it's so called "realism" that lacks on the other first person shooters. Patience, having an actual tactic, checking corners and doing all the "cs:go" stuff is aimed to remain relevant and it's differential.

I was almost Global Elite in CSGO a couple years ago. Crazy how much the space has changed. Bate royale CSGO might be fun if it was csgo from 3 years ago before the guns became garbage and the sound effects

This isn't suprising really. It was just a matter of time before Valve got on the whole Battle Royal bandwagon. I'm also not surprised that the game has gone free to play either.

The mode is blowing up on Twitch...I mean, 3 of the top 5 games are Battle-Royale so not surprising.

It's probably just that Valve servers can't handle that much players, they can't even provide 128 tickrate in a 5v5 mode. Community servers would fill that role (>18 players).

I paid $25 for a game that's going to be free but valve gives people who purchased it a badge and other useless cosmetic shit.

I know for a fact that the CS:GO community is going to be pissed at valve and will be howling valve to reverse this desision and keep these games separate...

I meanwhile will refund my copy and spend it on something that won't make me regret my desision... no man's sky here I come...
