"Open Box" Laptop "Mysteries"

The laptop was an Open Box purchase in store.

  • I do require the W10Home code.
  • Going to do some QC tests on the HDD, cpu, igpu, and the ram.
  • The main thing I would like to do, is do image of the hdd before I start installing everything. Put it on a USB and a spare HDD.

Has no sticker on the bottom of the laptop. No box, just laptop and charger.

All I can gather is that its obviously a HP brand and the model isn't that easy. I believe the model to be "Notebook"

It is a 17"   i5-7200U with 16GB of ram, 1TB 5400rpm which I already ordered an upgrade for the user. W10 Home 64bit.

The oldest dates I can find for software or updates are 2018-12-02 and 2018-11-19 so that could mean GeeksRus in store did the swipe and reload, but I don't know.

Windows button and R and typed in something brings up

Found W7D66UA#ABL from somewhere within OS, I do web search that, brings up17-x108ca

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05333508

Product number
W7D66UA
Product name
HP Notebook - 17-x108ca

OK so it matches with the SKU within the PC W7D66UA#ABL

This website has a ton of ABL's no mention. So could mean country, but that is what CA stands for in 108ca.

https://store.hp.com/CanadaStore/Merch/List.aspx?fc_seg_home=1&sel=NTB&lang=EN-CA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Pavilion_(computer)

W - 7 - D - 6 - 6 - UA -

7 could mean 17"

UA for ASUS means igpu, but for HP????

17-X108(CA)

CA could mean Canada

17 could mean 17" screen

X could mean non touch screen, as I found that in os somewhere. Web states X2 is touch screen and detach.

108 ????

I get "Some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" in one of the Settings, I believe it to be background.

I found the W10 Home Product ID within W10, but is that the W10 key?

Because it is 4 digits (#) - 5 digits (#) - 5 digits (#)- @@#@@

@ is alaphet # is number

Is that the way W10 is for product keys?

I have lots of sequencial zero's which makes me wonder. No stickers anywhere on laptop.

Looks nothing like below, as far as # and @.

Besides that, sequencing is all wrong, legit is 5 digits each for 5 blocks.

@@@@@-@@@#@-@@@@@-##@@#-#@@@#

Been searching HP website and Wikipedia's pages on HP and Laptops.

It is all very strange. No stickers anywhere on the laptop. W10  is wide open, carefully go through everything and turn it all off!
