Yup, backwards compatible. 

It's a different story if you try to put a 2000 series in a B350 though, in case you wanted that information as well. That would require a BIOS update.

The Ryzen 7 1700 is a good CPU, sure its base clock is on the low side but overclocked its a hidden beast.

And it still holds well against the 2700 so if you were able to get it cheap then you did just right.

Depends on the Board.

If you're getting a good B450 Board, sure.

If you're getting one of those cheap 50-70€ Boards, not really.

You should get a good ATX Board with at least full VRM Heatsinking.

The µATX Boards are mostly crap, only the latest arrivals are OK.
