Intel i5 8600k or Ryzen 5 1600X? Which one is cheaper? Which one is better?

1. Ryzen is cheaper, and it will beat the intel i5 8600k in productive tasks.

2. In gaming Intel is king.

Depending where you live you can buy better Ryzen 2xxx chips that cost the same as the i5 8600K.

Here in the Netherlands, the 8600K costs the same as the Ryzen 7 2700, lol. Might as well go for that :D - or a 2600X and a nice cooler.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

Ryzen is likely cheaper and has plenty of performance in games

don't bother with the X parts unless they're the same price as non X, they also don't come with heatsinks for Ryzen 1000

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
