A decade old, super low end PSU? No.

I think the hoomans put their builds here?

Why do you hoomans give your builds a name? Here's my build, which I shall call "Do as I Say, Not As I Do" (seriously, don't get this build)

Spoiler

Ryzen 1500X @3,925 GHz

Well, each of those GPUs is 200w before any sort of power increase, and that power supply is pretty old, so probably not, or at least not reliably (voltage fluxuations on the 12V line are really bad for stability)

Tag me @Opencircuit74 or quote me if you want me to respond, message me if you want me to spec out a decent super low-budget build. CPU: Ryzen 5 1400@3.7GHz RAM: 16GB (8X2) DDR4-2933 GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 TI “Superclocked” MOBO: Biostar X370GT5 SSD: Intel 530s M.2 80GB + Toshiba 128GB mSATA HDD: Seagate 2TB + Seagate 500GB + Hitachi 1TB Case: NZXT S340 White Cooler: Cooler Master Lite 240 AIO

in theory yes... in practisce.. if you're wanting to power 3 expensive bits of hardware.. get yourself a decent shiny new power supply.

Will coller master m620w 80 plus be able to run ryzen 5 2600, b450 tomahawk and crossfire of r9 380 windforce 4gb?

I have the 520W Version of that here right now.

And desoldered a couple of Caps.

and no cap was in spec!

All seemed leaky!!

And the Caps on +5VSB Rail were both bulging as well.

So its stupid to want to use a 12-15 Year old PSU!

It was released back in 2007!

And  in 2007 it was a nice PSU. In 2018 its just garbage and should be recycled...

Whats the worst scenario that can happen? It will shut down pc? Or it will 'burn' something?

It kills your PC because all voltages are out of spec.

By todays standard its worse than a "super low end" PSU. The only advantage is the 3 Rails.

Ripple is close to spec, IIRC at around 100mV, today we call PSU garbage that are over 50mV on +12V.

Voltage regulation, by todays standard, also worse than low end shit...

Sadly those old units aren't really tested and even if, the Tests are shit or useless for modern standards...

Ripple was within spec, but the regulation on 5V went out of spec, in this review.

Back from when that site wasn't complete shit, and actually had some useful information.

Oh, yeah but for a 2007 unit it still is pretty decent.

That shows you how shit most PSU were at the time..

The 3.3V also out of spec.

Seeing this uses group regulation, the 12V rail will likely be out of spec with modern computer crossloads.

Many thanks for help guys. Can evga 500w bronze certificate work?

No its crap

Get a good one like Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M, be quiet Pure Power 10 or 11, Straight Power 11.

And don't look for stuff yourself and buy a dud like a Seasonic S12II-Bronze or M12II...

No, as the Caps in my Cooler Master Real Power Pro M520W are all suspicious, yours will probably as well.

And PSU in 2006/7 were pretty much all garbage, it got better only a couple of years later...

So you should sell your second GPU and get a good quality PSU for that.

I got TWO Radeon HD 7970GHz/280x and it really sucks.

Yours is similar, just with newer cards without the bridge.

And still on most games I tried it just doesn't work.

And I need both for 550W...

So the best option:
Sell both and get an 8GiB RX470/570.

Second best option: Sell one and get a PSU for that.

Just one more quesrton and i wont bother you anymore XD

What psu would you suggest for gtx 1070

A good quality 450W like Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M, be quiet Straight Power 11.

Or you might also choose the 550W as its not that much more expensive...

How about this one: aerocool strike x 1100 gold certificate

https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/psu/strike-x/strike-x-1100m

Would that one be good for next years? I can get it for cheap, used from cousin

Avoid.

Aerocool does some awful bait and switch shit.

Like putting a 14 pin Supervisior in a Review model of a PSU - wich supports UVP on +12V and OCP on all rails - and then replacing it in mass production units with 8pin chips wich do not support UVP on +12V and no OCP.

There was an article on Tomshardware about this shit...

I've checked prices of all that you mentioned. I actualy started thinking of gtx 1080. I would probably need good 600w psu? Or not? Im realy not into this. Maybe i would like to overclock gpu and cpu with time.

 I can get pure power 10 500w - 65e, 600w - 75e ; pure power 11 600w 90e; bitfenix whisper m 650w - 92e; bitfenix formula - cant find in my country currently, straight power 11 750w - 130(theres no lower w in offer).

Those are offers of mentioned psu's, and only with that voltages have in offer.

Do i even need 600w for gtx1080?

And which one psu looks like best deal in your opinion?

No, 1080 is like 20W or so more than the 1070.

Either the Pure Power 10 500W or the Whisper M.

And if I decide to stay on crossfire r9 380? What psu to get then?

Same: Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M, just higher wattage

the 650W straight power 11 won't do, I think, because that particular one only has 2 PCIe connectors

is over 50mV really garbage?

I think you ever said ripple is very overvalued on reviews.

According to the Mining things is the defect rate over 60mV higher.

So lower is to be preffered.

But it shows how far things have gone when we call things that are less than half the spec bad...

Yes, it is as there is a point where it gets totally irrelevant and hard to measure.

You can't really measure 10mV or less, especially since you often have other shit you pick up...

So why hype something you can't even measure reliable??

So I'd say that 40-50mV is fine.

fine for normal use? or fine for mining?

is it true that ripple increases over time?

and what about ripple on the minor rails? is it as important as ripple on the 12V rail?
